Group exhibition
Exhibition duration: 04.05.2025 – 31.08.2025
On the one hand, Westphalia is a region shaped by Christianity, but on the other hand it is also subject to secular change. Do the sacred and the deeply individual needs for orientation, support and identity behind it still have any significance in uncertain times? Which saints play a special role in Westphalia? What forms of worship were and are there? Who can encounter the sacred where and how? What relevance does the sacred have in a secular society? How do people become saints? Where is the boundary to the profane? On what occasions is the profane consecrated as sacred or is the sacred profaned? How is the sacred expressed in Judaism and Islam? The exhibition explores these and other questions.
